Apply causal inference techniques in climate science

Marlene Kretschmer is a researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research where she did her PhD in climate pyhsics. Her research focuses on the dynamical Stratosphere-Troposphere coupling and its impacts for winter circulation, extreme weather events and sub-seasonal predictions. To address these issues, she is particularly interested in applying novel statistical approaches from machine learning such as causal discovery algorithms.
