Eliot Walt

  • PhD Researcher

Eliot Walt is a PhD Candidate within the Water & Climate Risk group of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Eliot obtained a Master of Science in Data Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL). During his Master’s thesis, written at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETH Zurich), he worked on Uncertainty Quantification using Bayesian Deep Learning in the context of Remote Sensing for Environmental Monitoring.

Eliot’s research aims to enhance the sub-seasonal to seasonal predictability of extreme events in the Mediterranean. His work focuses on developing Machine Learning models to improve the forecast of climate extremes in the Mediterranean and strengthen our understanding of their underlying drivers.
