ACES – Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-chain
The Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-chain (ACES) is a center dedicated to sustainable cold-chain. Cold-chain infrastructure is needed to store and transport food, medicine and vaccines in cool conditions. Our work at ACES involves identifying and understanding climate risks for cold-chain infrastructure in African countries. We don’t limit our analysis to direct impacts alone, such as identifying flood-prone areas unsuitable for distribution centers. We also delve into the indirect consequences of climate change on factors like disease spread, crop suitability, and energy generation, all of which play a role in shaping the resilience of the infrastructure. The approach to do so will be centered around the storyline method exploring climate impacts for several projected warming levels.
